I know it has been a long time since I have blown the dust off of Ginger, and for that, I can only say, I have struggled to find a voice in the last year among the many voices of discontent, fear, and anger that seemed to have gripped our world. How could I think banana bread and deviled eggs could solve any problems?
Well, that attitude sucks, and for that, I can only say, we are all human. I like many others was feeling sorry for myself and cut off from the world while also feeling too connected if that makes sense?
Anyway, over the last several weeks I have been involved in causing quite a ruckus, which is so unlike me, right? I said, right???? Ok, maybe I can be a bit mouthy at times, but it is usually all in good fun. This time, however, it really wasn't.
It was serious. My son, Big Red, the mighty Ginger himself, still dealing with the struggles of remote learning, asked me for help. So help, is what I am doing.
I recently wrote this letter to our local school board to share his struggles and to help shed some light on the effect kids everywhere are feeling from the loss of their schools.
I have decided to share the letter here because honestly, I have the URL, so I may as well put this platform to work since it is much more shareable than GoogleDocs.
And also because it is time to get back into the saddle again. Ginger is coming back. So if small-town school politics is not your thang- I am willing to bet, some of the new content will be...
We will be sharing cookies, and cocktails, and well, just about every single bit of comfort food we have utilized to get us through this catastrophe of a year. So welcome back, grab a seat, and read my letter to our school board. It is about an 8-minute read. In return, if you feel moved to share this with a loved one or friend who is also struggling, please do.
Ginger will be back with some fresh new bites this week, so once you are ready to have family and friends over for a meal and too many drinks, you are going to be all ready to go!
